CRAZY BURGER CAFE,

144 Boon St., Narragansett, 783-1810.

The former House of Pizza has been renamed and reincarnated under the vision of owner and former Rue de l'espoir chef Michael Maxon. And Crazy Burger has become the hottest spot in Narragansett (aside from the beach). The morning menu includes eggs fixed in omelettes and sandwiches; crepes; breakfast pizza and pancakes. Top it off with a fresh-squeezed juice combo, like pear-ginger-apple, or orange-pineapple ($1.50-$2.50). Burgers are the high point of lunch and dinner, with the many variations including jerky chicken burgers, quirky Cajun burgers, a wild and crazy mushroom burger and a hummabouli burger ($4.75 to $5.25). This cafe is a wonderful throwback to places we knew in early '70s Monterey, but it tastes much better!
